Alexa + ELAN

For years, we have watched futuristic movies where people call out commands to an omnipotent computer that can cater to their whims. We have all imagined a time when turning on a TV or changing the temperature in a space is as easy as saying it.  Well, that time is here.

Last year, ELAN 8.0 brought us Amazon Echo integration, along with its voice controlled assistant, Alexa. And soon, ELAN systems will receive integration with Google Home as well.

So, what kinds of voice commands can I use to control my system at home?

• “Alexa, play Adele on Spotify.”
• “Alexa, open the shades in the kitchen.”
• “Alexa, turn on the lights in the living room.”
• “Okay Google, raise the temperature to 22 degrees.”
• “Okay Google, turn on the TV in the bedroom.”
• “Okay Google, open the garage door.”

What does this mean for our ELAN clients? It means that upgrading to ELAN 8.0 and integrating with Amazon Echo and Dot right now will bring voice control to your system.
