In another move towards a completely voice-controlled smart home, ADT has announced that Pulse security system owners will be able to disarm them by Amazon Alexa sometime in Q1 2017.  Now, keep in mind, that this might not be the beginning of a landslide of voice-controlled access controls like door locks, or even other alarm system brands for that matter.  Apparently, ADT has to work very closely with Amazon to overcome the legal issues surrounding the enabling of this feature.  When needed, Pulse owners will be able to call out “Alexa, ask ADT to disarm the system with PIN 8675”.

So, what does this mean for Adera clients?  It gives you even more incentive to upgrade your ELAN systems to the new version 8.0 software to support Alexa and its voice recognition capabilities, allowing for control for many of ELAN’s common commands.  In our opinion, the voice control of Alexa combined with the smart home integration of ELAN makes for an incredible system.
